[OSDC Israel] Making sure speakers are good

Some of the participants in the previous conference complained
that there were certain speakers who did not prepare their talk well.
Speakers who could not put their material through well enough.

Some of these people suggested to do a 10-15 minute audition to the
future speakers before accepting their proposals.

I wonder what to do with this.

I have only been to YAPCs - that is the place where I took the selection process
from. AFAIK on OSCON - where they charge a couple of 1000s of USD just to get
in - has a similar process. In neither case do they audition or any
other screening.
(Besides going over the proposal and maybe asking friends if they have
already heard
the future speaker and what do they think.)
People who attended other types of conferences, what happens there?
(e.g. on Python conferences?)

I wonder what to do.

Any suggestions?

Gabor
